Double Trouble highlights for January/ February
2007
January
Whitetail Rail Jam, Mercersburg,
PA:
Travers and Reagan traveled to Whitetail Mountain
Resort to compete in the Whitetail Opening Rail Jam
in January. With 45 riders showing up and only two
age groups, Reagan landed on the podium with a second
place showing. Travers did not make the podium but
rode well.
Seven Springs “X”
Games, Somerset, PA:
Travers and Reagan traveled to 7 Springs Resort to
compete in the resort’s “X” game
rail jam competition. With over 120 riders and a well
groomed terrain park, Reagan ended up third and Travers
fifth in the competition. It was a good day and the
boys met a lot of new friends.
The OAKLEY Rail Jam, Mc Henry,
PA:
Reagan traveled to Wisp Resort to compete in the Oakley
Rail Jam sponsored by Oakley. Reagan competed in the
15-19 age group which was stacked with lots of East
Coast and local competition. When the jam was over,
Reagan received first place and the highest score
of the day amongst any of the riders- a 9.6 out of
10! As a result of his riding ability and his on-
snow attitude to help other riders- both older and
younger, Reagan and Travers have received an OAKLEY
sponsorship for snowboarding and wakeboarding. Travers
did not attend the jam as he had a Physics project
due the following day. Look for Travers and Reagan
to be sporting their new Oakley gear starting this
week!
February
United States of America Snowboard
Association( USASA), Mason Dixon Region, Season Opener,
Mc Henry, MD:
Slopestyle event- Travers and Reagan traveled
to Wisp Resort for the season opener of the Mason
Dixon USASA Region. On Saturday, the Slopestyle event
was held with top riders from MD, PA, VA, WV and OH.
Reagan and Travers competed in the 14-15 Youth Men
Division which is the most stacked class with probably
the most talented kids riding in all of the series.
As a result of Reagan hitting all the major (hardest)
rails, he earned a GOLD metal for his efforts. Travers
on the other hand, was disappointed that he didn’t
podium, as he had perfect runs but just missed the
podium.
Half Pipe (HP) Event:
The half pipe event was cancelled, due to the pipe
not being ready. There will be (2) half pipe events
at the next stop of the USASA at & Springs.
BoarderCross Event:
Since the half pipe event was cancelled and we were
already at the resort with lots of friends, Travers
decided to take his frustrations out on the boardercross
course on Sunday. Even though he was underweight by
40-50 lbs. And riding a slopestyle/ half pipe board,
he decided to give the course a try. As a result of
hard racing, Travers won his heat race and advanced
to the finals. In the finals, with wind chills of
20 degrees below and icy conditions, Travers cruised
to a third place finish and a Bronze metal in the
event. From this point forward, Travers will be riding
boardercross, as another event for the rest of the
USASA series. Reagan due to being a little small and
a big weight disadvantage, will sit out BX and cheer
Travers on. Ummmm, we’ll see about that!
I hope this has all our friends and
sponsors up-to-date on Double Trouble. If you need
anything or feel that a company may be interested
in Travers and Reagan, feel free to contact me.
Have a nice day,
Travers and Reagan O’Leary
